📢 Calling all young women ages 15 - 19 from Scarborough! 📢 Applications for the Scarborough HERstory Expressions Program are now OPEN! Visit the link in our bio for more details.

Scarborough HERstory Expressions (SHE) is a FREE one-week mural art-making intensive for young women and non-binary youth ages 15 - 19 who live in the Scarborough community to develop their skills in mural-making, and project management.

Over five in-person sessions held over March break, 10 participants will work with the Scarbrite Collective to co-create an indoor wall mural that reflects their own personal and collective experiences in the community.

By the end of this program, participants will feel more ✨CONFIDENT, PREPARED & EMPOWERED✨
to express themselves, work in collaborative settings, and secure artistic projects of their own. 😀

🗓️ The project will run in-person from March 11th - 15th, 2024 at Burrows Hall Community Centre (1081 Progress Ave, Scarborough, ON M1B 5Z6). All workshops will take place between 10am - 5pm each day.

Lunch will be provided, as well as all supplies required for the program. TTC fare is also available upon request.

Youth who attend a minimum of four workshops will be awarded a $250 honorarium and a certificate upon completion.

Together, we created plein air paintings at Thomson Park 🎨
Land art on the Rouge Beach 🌊
Pattern Mapping at L’amoreaux 🗺️
and Leaf Impression Pottery at Cedar Brook Park 🍁

Learn about local flora + fauna on an observational walk and create patterns inspired by your surroundings. ☺️ We will be joined by a special guest facilitator from @rootstobloom.ca. 🌱
